Few more round my way than ten years ago, when i was a kid in the 60s they were the second most common nesting bird, you knew when you put your hand in the nest and felt smooth dried mud it was a thrushes nest, this was in the days when every kid had an egg collection. Mistle thrushes are quite common near me i see loads on a sports field nearby. Today saw flocks of fieldfares and redwings going over looks like their heading home, thrushes declined round here when the magpie population increased. In the 60s, you never saw a magpie round my neck of the woods a bloke on a local farm had two captive ones, which as kids we were fascinated with because we hardly ever saw one. Nowadays there a pain lost two blackies nests to them last year, things change quite a bit in your lifetime, havent heard a turtle dove in years, and they werent that rare round here. Any of you guys seen a waxwing this year, its the first year for a long while that i havent seen one. YIS. KIC.

no wax wings up here this year mate n/e very few song thrushes around now -im always pleased when I locate a nest but most of time magpies find them and destroy them hence the reason I shoot magpies even sparrows aren't as numerous as they where but my bird boxes are helping as ive got them on nearly every house in street lol
