pablo esc 1,598
When out in the morning, got myself out of bed as it was getting light, still dark, could have been up and out a lot earlier but the weather rotten, dogs asleep but I owed it to them. Weather was shifty but I eating and got ready, took me hour journey, passing rain, got worse. I stopped on one permission and got my locater switched on, decided I go to another perm, next to the farmers mothers, woods. I walked up, dog, terrier kept going ahead in the short walk, I called it back a couple of times and I kept the pace, it got to the earth before me, I looked it hadn't gone the wrong way hunting or road, bang it was gone, I looked and the was a fresh scraped hole, to the about ten holer, no noise, no show, I checked after time it was moving in the main part, the Mungrel above was spot on. Say 15min later a big Fox bolted passed me, gone in second. Mungrel run, thought it was dead, trees, rockfall, found it ten minutes later on a bank, farmer shot Fox, the be needed to with lambs, chickens, job done, terrier came out running scent, had some real action below, nasty Charles. Went to another, a forest, bolted two good Fox, the both were quick out, this was with different dog, day went sour as I had to dig dog out stuck 7 Quote Link to post

pablo esc 1,598
Yes lovely, but I didn't fancy digging under one, as the dog ended up next to one and managed to get itself heading and stuck up a horrible tight length of hole, it came out somewhere on the first bolt, run the wood, second time another flew out, and dog still searching down there. Smaller Fox came back and nearly sprinted back in Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,102
Nice one Pabs .Your seeing a few then mate .Do you always hunt alone . Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
Yes mate, have to hunt alone, or I'd be not getting getting out or relying on people. It can be a struggle all right and keeping control, gear, dogs. Got permissions and hope that the don't go much deeper, a couple of earth's I wouldn't fancy on my own any more, the coud go five, six foot more and bit dodgy soft ground as you getting close on trying to break. through.when and met some lads few years back, but some were putting more than one dog down and giving it the big one, and so on and then the places you take them, etc, can't be trusted in soon time. Met a couple of decent digging fellas, the were good and knew the work, and would pts if not right and hold a dog back at age and have good dog, but you have to watch your places! 8 Quote Link to post
as88 146
Its sometimes hard graft going alone but 9 times out of 10 you take someone to a decent spot you have put the time and effort in to find, only to see that its been backtracked on its cuntish 1 Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
Can be hard all right on own out, you can see some great things but doesn't mean you should be on your own. I think stress to your self was the worst of it out, you should enjoy and make the most of it, the some things we have no control over, but to use your bit of experience. And people who go back on your places, then they take a couple others and so on,. Know and went out with a couple of guys, who sensible and good but the lived 200 km or so away and they'd be looking, and trying and keeping themselves to themselves Quote Link to post
