Guest vin
great stuff matey...keep on keeping on. congrats also. I would start using a ferret locator on them mink if I was you because one day your gonna have to dig it out from below. the more you hunt the more likely its going to happen. Quote Link to post

Yeah, I wish those locators were more useful to me. They don't help as much in minkenry, at least not the way that I like to hunt. My mink typically bring their catch back, and even when they don't I can almost always call them back either way. What would be MUCH more useful for hunting with a mink would be a device that will locate the mink if he slipped away unnoticed, and was half a mile down stream. The problem is that falconry telemetry only works when the animal is above ground, and ferret finders only work when you are standing a few feet away from the animal under ground. I really need something that has both distance capability (at least 50 meters or more) as well as the ability to pin point were the mink is while it's under ground. Only doing one or the other is only mildly useful when hunting with a mink. I plan on getting a dog to help hunt with my mink. In addition to locating game, and helping when we are ratting in a heavily infested pest control situation (like in this video https://youtu.be/90L474ao3KE ) it would be super useful to have a dog that could track the mink when ever we loose track of her. The dog in the first video named Carl was a SUPER useful dog to have around while hunting with the mink, but my buddy who owns him moved away, so now I need to get my own dog. I'm sure some boar hunters use GPS collars on their dogs, maybe something you could adapt to fit your mink? Love your videos by the way I showed some to my little niece who's ferret mad the other day and now she want to own mink when she grows up! Quote Link to post
