My pups broken one of her canines which didn't worry me because she's gonna be getting her adult teeth through soon but the tooth has gone opaque and blackish so I'm wondering if it could affect the next tooth in any way or should I just leave it?

Merlin did his and alas it not always a simple job, if the tooth is still sound it may still have a big root dependent on the age of the pup. With a healthy milk tooth the root gets reabsorbed at the end of its life as the adult starts to form, when just the bit above the gum is left it fall out, hence why the come out so easy. Look at any shed milk tooth and you will see there is little if any root. But if the tooth is dead the root may not reabsorb and so impinge on the adult tooth's development. This happened with Merlin and we watched and waited but it had to come out surgically as it was done when it was still complete. Alas the adult one was coming out at a 45 degree angle. If most of the re-absorption has already happened then all may be ok. Id also watch so any signs of infection.
