The one 8,616
My sons been pestering me for a couple of weeks to make a start while ive been more into lamping as the fields get cut , so I gave in and went to the farm phoned the farmer whos cutting away on the combine and headed to the field . It was like a hay field he's had the cattle on the hill all summer . the first burrow the lurcher marked my son tried to net up and popped in a ferret I gave him a shout a rabbit had bolted out twenty yards be hind him on the slope and he hadn't seen it . Next burrow the lurcher marked I tried to net up but the cover was up to my knees LOL a rabbit bolted out a clump to my left and straight into a clump next to it as im waiting on the ferret my son comes up nets the hole and stick a ferret down , five minutes later the box is out 1/3 foot in two minutes hes down five foot in the sand I reckon hes missed the burrow but breaks threw at the bottom of his dig and he can see his ferret doing laps of the burrow struggling t make anything of it . We get the ferret out and fill in move on . By now we have returned the carry boxes back to the car and are carrying them in a pigeon crate because of the heat . Nets burrow I net up where I can and get a rabbit twenty seconds after the ferrets are in . So a bit of ribbing one nil to dad LOL . next burrow he gets one so the happy face is on . He said to me get the ferrets out pick up the nets and I will walk round the fieds seeing if theres any burrows we can do . as he came back he said a couple of single holers over there the rest of the burrows are worse over grown than this . he netted up and popped in a ferret after ten minutes out comes the spade found the burrow and no sign of the rabbit or ferret and the ferrets off the scale of the 15 foot boxes the ferrets are starting to scrap in the basket odd as they all share a hutch but I reckon its the heat after abut 30 minutes I get a mark of four foot dig down pull out a dead rabbit and get the ferret fill in and say its time to head home , What was the score Oh aye two one to dad stuff the ferreting for another wee while were back out lamping LOL 4 Quote Link to post
