jonnie bravo 572
Ey up folks. Well this is for anyone interested really.... essentially I'm going to throw up a load of numbers from a chrono test I've done on my .177 prosport, my seem a bit dull, but it might be useful to some! So I'm going to put the pellet, followed by its head size and weight where I can, and in brackets the weight dialled into the chrono. These pellets were not sorted and weighed. The results show fps first follwed by Ft/lbs. Good luck getting your head around it lol webley accupel 7.9 (7.9) 1. 775 10.55 2. 779 10.66 3. 777 10.59 4. 778 10.64 5. 774 10.51 6. 770 10.41 7. 766 10.30 8. 769 10.39 9. 772 10.47 Jsb exact 4.52mm 8.44 (8.4) 1. 735 10.08 2. 740 10.21 3. 746 10.39 4. 749 10.47 5. 750 10.49 6. 745 10.34 7. 743 10.31 8. 747 10.40 9. 738 10.17 10. 744 10.32 RWS superfield 4.52mm 8.4 (8.4) 1. 714 9.52 2. 715 9.54 3. 721 9.71 4. 722 9.73 5. 718 9.62 6. 725 9. 7. 720 9.86 8. 717 9.59 9. 723 9.76 RWS superdome 8.30 (8.3) 1. 700 9.04 2. 686 8.68 3. 685 8.66 4. 708 9.24 5. 688 9.74 6. 683 8.59 7. 681 8.55 8. 694 8.88 9. 682 8.58 The superfields were very consistent, but lacked power. The webley accupels were fast and had good power, they were also the loosest pellets out of the lot, and were pretty consistent. The JSB's were pretty consistent and better power than the superfields but not quite as well performing as the accupels. The superdomes were crap!!! all over the place and very low on power. My results from the 99 were a little different, it liked the superfields a lot, good power and consistency. It didn't like JSB's and superdomes, and hated the accupels- but loved the very tight fitting H&N extreme hunter's. So I think Light and loose for the prosprt, tight and heavy for the 99..... more testing to come soon mind. cheers J Quote Link to post
Durham John 693
Jonnie is the Crow sport new! If so it will pick up a bit and get smoother more consistent . Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
It's not pal, infact she was conceived in 2010, she is v mached too, and that's all had a good run in. Part of me think's a couple of power washers would bump her up in no time... Quote Link to post
j j m 6,625
I like them out the box and just let them run in, ive had v mach kits fitted to one pro sport and I would not have it done again, ended up selling the gun Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Cheers gents. No problem so far with the v mach kit, there is only a tiny amount of preload on it. I have the original internals and a tbt kit at my disposal so I may just switch it back up and see how the tbt and original mainspring run. Jjm what went wrong with your v mach kit? Rez 4,961
I'd second Timmytree's post, mines set up the same way. 1 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Nice one rez. I think I'll pop in the old spring with tbt and put it over the chrono. Not defending v mach here but the seal seems very robust. 1 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,982
My experience of V mach in a prosport is a snappy action that quickly loses power and becomes coilbound with just a few washers. I chucked mine after the second spring and guides went the same way and went back to standard spring and my own guides. Now I'm using a TBT set with a standard spring and its as good as anything else I've tried. I had a brief go with a shortstroke kit but it didn't suit the PS at all, lacked power and I wasn't happy at the prospect of loads of preload to get the power up. Stick with a standard spring, tight guide (TbT) or similar and try AA Fields or AA Field Express. Mine hates JSB. They are jsb`s 1 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
No they're not! Air Arms Fields are made by JSB but using Air Arms dies, they are most definitely different. Hi Timmytree, did you find the AA pellets to be different in anyway? I.e. Shape, barrel fit, soft/hard etc? I was always under the impression they were the same too Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
The differences are minute but they basically are the same shape, quite literally. The most interesting difference is the inside back end as shown, which could lead to various set ups liking certain ones, for example of how the 'air pressure' makes contact with the pellet. Only used JSB's in my old Scorpion. Everything Ive shot since has loved AA Fields, 4.52 or 5.52. 1 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,982
just got both lots of pellets out and both look the same , even under a magnifying glass 1 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
The last thing I think about with pellets is the inside of the skirt. I can't imagine in my head atleast what difference it would make? Would love to know what is going on there. Surely if it was a good thing jsb would have done this to all there pellets? j j m 6,625
Im not sure mate it was fitted bye a gun shop but the gun just did not shoot the way it should of and power was low. I decided to sell on to a mate he put it back the way it was and he said it was great after a few weeks, ive had a few pro sports over the years plusv big macs old one and to be truthefull I just shoot them as they come out the box and let them run in ive had no problems 1 Quote Link to post
