NOW LETS GO INTERNATIONAL!

 

With the NI Countrysports Fair passed - it is time for the Irish game, countrysports & country fair scene to go ALL IRELAND & INTERNATIONAL with the Shanes Castle Fair ( 27/28 June) and the Birr Castle Fair ( 29/30 August).

 

We at the Great Game Fairs of Ireland think that while we can never really compete directly with the large fairs in the UK in terms of size or shopping experience, where we can compete is on arena attractions ( we have three arenas ) and on prize funds for our competitions.

 

Thus while we have extended our exhibitor base again this year we also think it important to offer Irish country sports competitors the opportunity for REAL international competition on Irish soil ( with great prizes) and the opportunity to also compete in top UK competitions. This year we offer exceptional all Ireland and international class events in clay shooting, gundogs and terriers, lurchers and whippets.

 

For TERRIERS, LURCHERS & WHIPPETS we have the 28th Annual All Ireland Showing & Racing Championships open to all. Top Terrier & Top Lurcher qualify for the Countryman's Weekly Championships at the Midlands. and of course for the Five Nations Championships at Birr. The Master McGrath Challenge has qualifiers from all over Ireland and Scotland, England & Wales as has the Five Nations Whippet Championships.

 

For GUNDOGS we have individual and team international retriever and spaniel tests with teams from England, Scotland, Wales , ROI and NI. A real chance for Irish gundog handlers to compete against top quality international opposition - again for top quality prizes.

 

In CLAY SHOOTING we not only have THREE guns to be won including one of the NEW Cogswell And Harrison range which including the new Certus Rifle Range will be launched in our Gunmakers Row at the fair - two great products from a classic brand. AND anyone really could win this famous branded gun as a Novice shooter gets up to five birds from an A/AA shooter. AND for the first time in Ireland we have not ONE but TWO Irish qualifying rounds for the WHITE GOLD CHALLENGE. On each day at Shanes Castle two guns will qualify as either Gold or Silver Shooters with prize money of £125 Gold and £50 Silver each day. The four shooters go forward to a grand final in England with prize money of £2,500 in each class. And as the Gamebore Gold cup is also on the same ground that w/e with a prize fund of over £6,000 they can take in that in too. And because we are focused on supporting Irish international competitors we are happy to announce that over and above the standard competition prize fund we are providing ferry travel for four for the qualifiers.
