What would be the best way to plug them blue barrels the same sort that game shoots make into pheasant feeders? I'm hoping to make a raft to fish of the lake outside my house in the summer so they will need to be water/air tight as I have no idea how to do it and hopefully some one with greater skills than my own could help me with a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Got a picture bud, theres all sorts of plastic barrels with different holes/opening`s. If your on about the original openings, it might be easier to source new lids.

If your on about small holes, drill holes or tap holes, you might get away with a hardwood bung. I done it to one in the garden that lasted a fair few years as a working water butt. I just tapered a piece of dowel (broom handle)and hammered it in to the hole, then went round it with some bathroom silicone.

They came from a dairy farmand they just have to holes in the top that are a couple inch wide. Does it have to be bathroom sillicone? Or will any do. Yes I think they are tap holes in the top were they would have had a hand pump in the top

Bathroom silicone is sposed to be waterproof, thats why I used it. Are the holes threaded for a screw on cap? I might be better to try and find some caps for them. Im just having a look now... Give "tight head barrels" a search, you might find exactly what you want fairly cheap. Without seeing the barrel, I dont really know what to look for. Are yours screw cap or what looks like push fit?

Yes I there threaded and some have the caps but there not just water tight as I filled them up a bit then tipped them over to test and they were just slightly leaking so I'll maybe just screw them In and put sillicon round the top or would it be better to put sillicon in the threads the quickly screw them on? The ones in the link are the same as what I have.

There's a couple with them but the others will have been lost when they've opened them. I've told them to keep hold of them in future but you no what these dairy farmers are like always in a rush haven't got time to think about that lol
