digginmad2011 57
Right lads and lasses, i am a 25year old groundworker drainage, founds etc been doin it for a few years and like it but want to better myself, i am someone who likes to get mucked in with everything from sweeping up to draining a full plot. Now.... I have been using 13tonne machine loading dumpers, grading stone scraping roads if and when i can on the hush hush because HEALTH&SAFTEY has gone crazy how can anyone learn and develop without having a go, all these old blokes who drive now thats how they done it anyway rant over.... My point being does anyone have any idea if theres any government grants or anything available to self employed people with skilled worker cscs cards because the course for training which you must do even though you know the basics and more is £1700 and then the test is £575 Any advice much appreciated Dm2011
mattyg 1,862
I'm sure there's new grants being made available it's just knowing who to speak to. Different type of work here but they want every card under the sun on some jobs, luckily I managed to obtain most of mine whilst subbing to a decent firm...... Good luck mate
Joe1888 672
ila would probably give you £200 towards it, phone around and ask the companys that do the training/test if they know of any. am similar to you mate, drove 13-24 toners, dont have a ticket for it Edited March 10, 2015 by Joe1888

GPT1973 5
Ok mate, I am thinking of taking mine been driving them for years up to a 27ton long reach had 5 weeks on one without a day off , loved it. I rang a firm called ITS (industrial training services) I told them I had experience and it would only cost £575 for practical and written test. If I pass I get what they called a red ticket that gives me two years in which to do an nvq which then allows me a blue ticket lasts 5yrs. Nvq costs between £250 /£300 but they did mention something about a grant.
