hairy biker 14
.22 far better to shoot and I have both I'm curious has to why you think .22 is far better to shoot Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Firstly. There's less whack needed to get the heavier pellet on its way mate. A .177 calibre springer set up would tend to stun the pellet due to its size, where as a .22 is in a way, "pushed". It's hard to explain, but there is generally harsher recoil from 177 springers than 22's. Hence making them sweeter. It is true. Second. Dr B. your a fecking nureoscienetsistiits?! And you dabble in airguns? Ha. A first. Any other members deal with brains? That doesn't included sticking a pellet in um mac 1 Quote Link to post

charlie caller 3,654
.177 kills better than .22 in a 12ftlbs format.I disagree with you with passion. That is your prerogative my friend, but as I said in 35+ years of airgunning, I find the smaller calibre gives better instant kills, any calibre will kill with a shot to the head, nobody can argue against that, but when a body shot has to be taken, against something like a wood pigeon, I feel the extra penetration of .177 gets the job done better, I cant honestly recall a pigeon flying off from a side on .177 pellet, but have seen it many times with .22, so I know which one I will stick with, but whatever you shoot, enjoy it 1 Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,832
Iv been a 22 man all my shooting life and with my trusty hw97s but went to 177 after i was lone one and when i saw how the rabbits dropped after i had shot them i was amazed they (two) just rolled over not even a kick or a twitch one was 55 yards and the other 65 yards both rolled over dead iv only saw this with 22 a hand full of times ,but with the 177 its all of the time full stop ,what ever i hit i bought the rifle the next day Im with CC on this im afraid and im still a 22 man at heart and still own 22,s and all way will but the hitting power of the 177 still amazes me atvbmac  2 Quote Link to post
