Custom Rattys

Recommended Posts

Sorry I didn't see this Moxy. I'm out with my little Ratty all the time. I fricking love it!

Keep it with CO2 if it's just plinking. Converting to compressed air is not a good idea if it's for a small kid.

I started a post about CO2 and it quickly became "I love Crosman's because...." post. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/329682-co2-anyone-else-or-is-it-just-me/

I hope that helps. JohnBaz is the man to talk to about moding 2250's

As for playing around and customising them, I have kept mine as standard, aside from basic mods, e.g. scope, silencer, etc. I was VERY tempted to go for the metal breech, but decided not to. It works how it is, so I left it how it was. I'm still bagging 20-30 rats quite happily...as long as there are those kinds of numbers to shoot. If there are none around, I shoot none. If there are loads about...I shoot loads. The gun will perform as well as I do, no better no worse.

I've heard of guys modifying the stock (cutting it off, or just replacing it with a wooden handle) which makes it into a high powered (albeit single shot) pistol.

For a 6 year old, he'll quickly grow into it. Maybe a small bipod (the cheap ones that clip onto the barrel) would help him to start with? Then as he grows, he can do more standing shots? The scope should very easily move forward and back, so adjustments for age and growth should be pretty simple.

Cheers matty, it's doing a steady 6.5 ft/lbs which is ample for his needs and for a garden plinker. I looked into getting more out of it but the effort isn't worth it for what it's going to be used for.

Thank you for your reply Remmy, I value your input as a ratty user.

I had no choice but to do the upgrades, the barrel was loose in the original plastic breech and if I'm honest mounting a scope to the barrel on that flimsy construction will only invite accuracy issues. The last thing he needs is to loose interest having to rezero every time we have a play.

The stock is a concern but I can't size him up until he receives it at Xmas, But getting the hacksaw and drill out isn't a problem.

I will look into a bipod that fits
