Lapua Soft Point Ammo

Hi all me again (sorry)

 

I have some Norma soft point for the .22-250 do any of you guys use soft point for charlie?

I also have hornady vmax to try whats best in your experience.

Providing the rifle will shoot them well, the fox won't care which one you use.

 

The VMAX is a ballistic tip so will violently fragment on entry and dump all of its energy inside the fox (usually),

 

The soft point will be a more controlled "mushroom" effect and will likely exit the other side,

 

Both are deadly but I prefer ballistics for things I don't intend to eat

I would try them both but I like to experiment with stuff like that see which one works best for you and that nice new gun you got

Thanks guys. Sounds like I may be better finding an accurate ballistic tip and keep the soft point for muntjac and cwd when I do go lol.

Vmax are flat base bullets, I prefer boat tails myself, but that said my preference is ar*e because the Vmax shoot very well in

my 22.250, and the Nosler ballistic (Boat tail) don't.

Oh well.

Ive found today the vmax group at 1" at 100 yards. Well chuffed

The 50g pills are astonishingly accurate in this rifle. Ive zeroed an inch high at 100yards and tested at 200yards and its practically bang on

 

Really happy

Now time to get ready to see if I can call a fox or 2

Went foxing just got back very wet lol.

 

Seen 4 foxes 1 at about 100yards but decided against the shot due to an uncertain backstop/livestock. Defo would have bagged him though 2 out of my comfort zone due to lack of experience with this setup and another at about 160ish yards but couldn't get a suitable rest as the grass was a little long for the bipod.

 

Oh well a little more practice needed but they'll be back another night
