jasper65 6 Posted October 16, 2007 Report Share Posted October 16, 2007 If I'm driving along and the static camera in on the righthand side facing me will it still flash me for speeding? it obviousley works if the camera in the left as it flashes as you past it, but do you need a camera on both sides to get both flows of traffic? The reason I'm asking is I know of a guy passed through a Camera the oposite way on his Motorbike probably slightly over the speed limit and it didn't flash... Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I can be driveing along with a Camera coming up in the distance on the right hand side and the traffic on my side are still hitting their brakes pretty hard so I thought the camera could nail you on both sides? but since speaking the the lad on the Motorbike who reckons he sailed through a 50mph camera way above this its got me thinking .... jasper65 6 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Share Posted October 16, 2007 I'm shitting myself about it MT, after reading some of the stuff on the Nav forum its got me worrieing. a popped engine would be far to much for me to replace so I'm taking it no higher than 2500RPM between the gears.... I knew I was doing something right. :clapping: :clapping: i may be wrong on the but i think theres a sencor on the back of the camera box that resets the sencors and camers when you head towards it and you speed is then calculated over a set distance as you go past,basically the camera knows the distance between the moment the sencor id tripped to a set point beyond that so if you pass to fast itll go off hence itll only get you as you pass with the camers at you rear i stand to be corrected on this lee Quote Link to post Share on other sites
lucky 578 Posted October 17, 2007 Report Share Posted October 17, 2007 theres some speed cameras near me and they only flash if your on the left going away from them, the markings however are on both sides of the road, just to catch people who try and go through them on the wrong side of the road. these cameras dont flash when your going towards them, i've tried it. stubby 175 Posted October 17, 2007 Report Share Posted October 17, 2007 the camera to your left is the only one that can get you, even if both sides of road have white markings, the camera is calibrated for the flow of traffic passing away from it, not coming towards it, trust me, regularly get flashed both in the works van, my jeep and definatly on the bike, and never get tickets, you could always speed pass a camera doing 172mph, it was proven on "top gear" that you would then be across the lines, before it could take a picture Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Thats what someone told me after I was flashed by a camera on the opposite side of the road from me. Knowing my bloody luck i'll get a nice enforcement letter through the door now though... martin 332 Posted October 17, 2007 Report Share Posted October 17, 2007 Ionly the new digital cameras that can get you coming towards them,and they dont need to flash and they take a pic of you driving as well.
