Scope Base Help Please.

Recommended Posts

Can anyone explain why scope bases are different size.

I have a brass 1 peice base and then a weaver rail to go on top. 1 end of the brass base is thicker than the other and I dont get why.

Also do you think using a 1 peice base will cause extraction problems?

Any help appreciated

All I know is that its higher one end than the other and the chap who gave it me said you put a flat weaver rail on top and screw them both to the receiver holes.

I know you can buy weaver rails that are higher one end I think this brass one is instead of a proper weaver.

I was thinking extraction problems with using a 1 peice long base instead of 2 separate bases. So the base goes over the chamber slightly

Would you not be better with seperate rings and bases mate? Has somebody made the brass bases, cant say as I have seen brass bases on a modern rifle, I suppose the only way to see if you get ejection problems, is to suck it and see I suppose, you will be chuffed with the Zastava.

Cheers CC can't wait to get it. Looked alot for reviews hard to find them but the one's ive read all seem great.

The brass was made specially for this rifle and he also gave me a thin weaver rail to go on top. Ill try the brass and weaver as I reckon it will look nice on a blued action. Maybe after a month when I can afford it ill have one made or order from US.

Thanks again

Got it now thanks

Brass is quite soft I no what your saying about it looking nice

As long as it holds the zero and doesn't allow the rail to move

I think the less you use the less can go wrong

Put a picture up of the rifle when it comes iv never seen one

Cheers

Have a good un

This is new to me as well, could this base be angled to allow for loooooooooooooooong distance shooting with some scopes, far better to have an evenly angled one piece base than to try and shim a single ring.

Not a clue really, just throwing that in the mix!

I'll be the first to hold my hand up then...never seen one of them!

Who did you get it from and what did they say it is for, it does look like that is to tilt the scope for long range, either that or to fit an odd shaped action!

:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
