Magpie 102
I started with this type of running dog. Bred by a lady from Norfolk, owner of ' Cracker ' the Norfolk under 23' racing champion 3 years running. They're just non ped Whippets really, no mystery. Splash of Greyhound perhaps and maybe a bit of something else but, mainly Whippet. the little dogs I kept were as fast as fook but, had no stamina. A dozen or more runs on the lamp would see the knackered. Their feet weren't too bad, though they did skin from time to time. Having said that the dam to my first bitch' Cracker ' didn't have a complete foot at the the end of any of her legs by the time she retired. The worst thing about them was the inbuilt barbed wire magnet. They'd find wire where there was none. Skin like bleeding paper to boot. Not a good combination. There's no doubt these little dogs have their use but, I just couldn't afford the vet bills and that's why I now run Beardie crosses. Altoghehter, a tougher animal. Quote Link to post
whin 463
mines is no little dog 23 1/2 nearer 50 pound and shees not thin skinned very intellegent and knows how to handle her self on rough land no broken toes one feched stopper my fault , but al in all more handier and better than lots of lurchers ive seen espec the midland stingers , i could take tess out in any company and she would not make you look stupid and was carching hares etc in her first season ,cant fault the dog when realy fit she can do more than twelve rabbs she done two roe and a hare when legal she lacks a bit of wiegth but is a very handy dog ideal for crossing and on her own a very handy dog to have about ,shees not the typical kind she was bred out of an open class distance dog and a good producing working type grew dog ,the bitch greyhound was more like a saluk greyhound and one races up to 1200 metres ,all in al if i bred her i wouldnt be shy to take a pup cheers Quote Link to post
