hutch6 550
There is a cracking campsite at Gatehouse of Fleet. Take the turn after the Cardoness Holiday park on the A75. There is a farm just off the road on the left heading west. Call in there and there is the best camping I've had as far as beach stuff is concerned. Be sure to take a log or two for the beach fire where everyone gathers round for a craic and a drink. If it's a clear night be sure to look up as well as it's the only "dark place" in Britain i.e. minimal light pollution
CBdogsA1 420
Auchenlairie is the caravan park. If your taking the other half, head for New Abbey and give her a romantic walk round Sweetheart Abbey. Drive on to Sandyhills for an overnight, nice wee beach there. Avoid Southerness, shite. Stay on the coast road to Kirkubright an on to the cream-o-galloway, the kids will love it there. From there the aforementioned farm is not that far. From there Newton Stewart is close and it takes you to the Clattering shows/ New Galloway road. On this you have a few historical stops, Clattering shows dam with fishing, deer park, wild goats and the Raiders road. Loch Ken is a good spot, boating, fishing ( pike, coarse, full of crayfish to ). Only 30 mins from me. Have fun in whatever way you go and DON'T forget midge cream, they are really bad this year.
