Cedric 132
I set off yesterday to cull some rabbits which had been destroying a fence. I normally shoot them with a .17 hmr at between 90 and 100 yards. However , I found I had put in a box of empty cases and only had a few rounds of a poor batch of ammo, so I had to settle for the .22 with subs. The previous night I had looked at the Hawke ballistic calculator program and worked out one mil dot elevation should give 89 yards. Got the ranger finder out and sure enough the first rabbit was at 90 yards, settled the dot on it's head and over it fell ! The rest were just as good, ended up with 17 ex bunnies. The strange part was, being used to the .17's instantanious strikes at those ranges, it took a moment before I knew if I had hit them, like slow motion ! Anshutz 1417, 14 " barrel. Quote Link to post

shropshire dan 467
I found that lamping rabbits with the .22lr. Having been using the hmr for ages and not bothering with the .22 I decided to use the LR for the quietness. Got 21 rabbits but every shot seemed to take forever to impact really weird. Still the .22 for lamping rabbits cannot be beaten love this little brno Quote Link to post

What ammo you using in the Annie Cedric? I did some ammo testing on film yesterday with my CZ452 .22LR and found Eley Subs to perform the best out of my selection which included; Remington, RWS, Winchester and of course Eley. The Eley put 4 shots in a group smaller than a £1 coin at 100 yards and that was in an 8mph wind. To say I was impressed is an understatement Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Elliot - Eley in the Anshutz, Lapula/SK in the 10/22. Dan - I went out with the 10/22 and night vision after dark, not a lot of success. My eyes are not the best and can't sort out the range problem yet. Amazing just how loud a moderated .22 sounds at 2 am on a dead still night ! Celtic - only one pic of my "retriever" ! Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Its the impact pop that surprises me everytime compared to the bang of the round Quote Link to post
