fireman 11,458
Bloody lovely sight and looks like the cock is looking after those young un's as well .If there in the flight i saw your hen in there'll be fine as it's nicely covered but just look out for un noticed old screw holes like i did and lost a nest today due to the rain pouring in through one right on top of a cinny redpoll on full eggs ,saw her flying around first thing not happy so went out and the nest was water logged and all eggs cold and wet and to top it it seems the bully hen with 7 eggs has decieded b*ll*cks to them and she's come off as well ,fecking birds and p*ssing rain but that's a ray of sunshine that sight on a gloomy day Mule and nice one indeed

fireman 11,458
I way i check for missing young is i look over the floor for any dead ones,if i can't see any then i know the buggers are tucked away somewhere and i do stop my worrying, they've been doing this since dinosuars were on the earth so unless i see a dead body i know there just doing what fledglings do and that's hide away most of the time .I know that sounds a bit odd but it's better than looking through the cover and disturbing them as there'll only learn your there to hassle and chase them so i look for dead stock and if there isn't any i know the livestock are fine . As for the 7 bully eggs i pulled the nest out dropped 3 eggs and set the other 4 under 2 goldie mule hens i have sitting,a 3rd goldie mule hen was sat on some other bully eggs but there clear ,still the other bully hen is sat tight so out of one hand into the other as they say.
