pernod 466
Just a small question folks... the small company i used to work for has been taken over by a much larger group. Result of this is i am required to use my own car for company use i.e visiting other sites within the group, visiting customers, suppliers etc. Whille they do compensate with a mileage allowance, 40p/mile. Im sure my insurance wont cover this usage. Anyone else do this?? Do i require business insurance?? Im new to all this.. thanks in advance. Pernod

Pernod most insurances are for domestic and pleasure, going to and from work is classed as domestic, if the car is solely for business use then it will need insuring for that
vanman1 411
Yep will need to insure for business use defo, although i doesn't mean it will necessarily be more, will depend on risk/job involved etc. My insurance was no more weather business or domestic so i covered both to be sure. abarrett 462
You do need to be covered for business use Don't risk not having it if anything happens on a site you will be asked why you where there Then told you are not covered Try calling a plan 01908 271771 They are brokers and will find you a good price They do all our insurance

lexikia 5
I use my personel car for work and had to change the usage to Business use and increase the mileage from 6k a year to 25k a year. No increase in premiums, [ with Direct line ]

Tiercel 6,986
The wife gets 45p per mile with the company she works for. I get 49p allowance off the taxman. Business use is usually no extra, with any of the insurance companies we have had in the last 5 years. Edited to add: The 49p allowance has to cover everything tax, insurance, breakdowns, Tyres and MOT's and it is only for the first 10,000 miles it reduces a lot after that.
