Outlaw Pete 2,224
I figure there's almost bound to be Someone, here, with a knowledge of such obscure process? Needs to withstand 23 or so C too. Just to make it a proper challenge Craic is; I want to build an insulated box. I then hope to get an electric blanket. Fit a thermostat to it. Seal it up in plastic feed sacks, to waterproof it. I then put this in the bottom of my box and put my beer brewing buckets on top of it. Result is a controlled (but, extremely vigorous) fermentation. During which liquids from the buckets will spew over and run down onto the protected blanket. See? So, I figure some sort of tape. But, it needs to be water and, to a certain degree, 'heat' proof. Can't have the adhesive melting. Anyone ....? Thanks
beast 1,884
why not put the buckets onto a plastic (or otherwise waterproof) shelf ? you could use something with a lip round it and a drain hole so the excess liquid is caught on the shelf and runs out through the hole? a pipe from the hole could lead out of the box, you then wouldnt need to worry about waterproofing your sack (so to speak!). is there not a better heat source than an electric blanket? nans pat 2,575
you on the patcheen............electric blanket.
beast 1,884
heres an idea (probably a shit one!) what about a fish tank heater set at 23 degrees and left in your brew?
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Beast; That's not a 'shit' idea at all, mate. It's actually one I adopted and developed years ago. It's a fine idea. However, who wouldn't like to come up with the Better Mouse Trap? You ~ too ~ obviously would. Because you too are thinking about this. I just have the advantage of hands on experience of the process. Thus I've learned the snags ye'd never dream up through just having a think. I thought the fish tank heater idea was the be all. Till the little wrinkles showed themselves. Some, I over came. Some proved, practically, insurmountable. And Practical is the word here. I make my beer on a cottage industrial scale. I can't afford break downs. This is why I need a tape that'll stay the course. I've done the rest of the leg work. I just hope to find someone, somewhere, who happens to have huge experience of tapes. If we don't ask .....

Or for a more 'cottage industry' type thing, try using an iron and some aluminium foil: http://lifehacker.com/5876762/seal-plastic-bags-with-aluminum-foil-and-an-iron
Outlaw Pete 2,224
:icon_eek: F**k me, mate! At £90.00 a throw ....?!
unlacedgecko 1,467
I had a feeling you may object to the expense, that's why I suggested the almost free method of iron and kitchen foil. I must add the disclaimer that I have not tried either method...
