mattwhite 1,993
Now im sure this subject has been done to death many times and i have looked at the general licence but here goes. In short, one of my permissions keeps ornamental fowl and they are getting a bit of a hard time from some mallards. Now they asked me to thin them out but as i pointed out to them they are NOT a vermin species layed out on the general licence and they ARE at the moment out of season for legally shooting with a shotgun. Now call me thick but i cannot find anywhere on the licence that says that when mallards ARE in season, they can be shot, with the landowners permission by means of an air rifle. Now i understand that the shotgunners will frown on the shooting of waterfowl with an airgun but if your going for an absolute dead certain headshot on a mallard then i see no harm as this will drop them stone dead. Basically what i would like an answer to is, during the correct season for shooting mallards, is it legal with the permission owners written permission to shoot pest mallards on their land with an air rifle. I appreciate that this topic must come up quite a bit but its the first time i have asked it. Thanks for your patience lads and lasses. Quote Link to post

mattwhite 1,993
Thanks for that one moxy. Thats pretty much what i had taken from it. Well im confident of an accurate shot at 35 yards to play it safe so lets wait and see if the landowner still has a problem with them when the season starts. Quote Link to post
