villaman 9,982
Keep your r10 or buy HW100kt far better IMO , will not buy another Daystate until things improve big time Quote Link to post

risingfriend 1,042
Dont write one off yet A few lads on here have had or currently own an air ranger and have great sucess both in the field and in HFT a far superior rifle to the R10 and on a par with the hw100 apart from magazine is more fussy on the ranger. Massive shot count nice stock and balance and accurate as when matched to the correct pellet, Some of the newer daystates have had issues but the ranger been around a while Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
I have to agree with Villaman about the lack of power with the Daystate Regal .177. Is this a teething trouble with what is after-all, a brand new rifle? While mine is very accurate with AA Field. 4.51mm pellets on paper targets, I have little trust that a .177 pellet that you can actually see fly to the target, in daylight, is operating at a level of kinetic power needed to humanely kill quarry reliably with each accurately-placed headshot. While I have already made a number of successful Rabbit kills with it, I have already witnessed several of my shots badly wound Rabbits in their heads sufficient to allow them to escape down their burrows to die slow and agonising deaths and other shots bounce off Pigeons and crows. It has missed shots on vermin where any of my spring rifles would have hit home and put the animal down hard and humanely fast. I am not going to write my PCP rifle off as I have noticed the power seems to be climbing a little with more use and the kills I've made with it have been at some decent long ranges. But, if the current performance of this rifle does not improve overall with use, to my satisfaction it will be returned to Daystate for servicing to a level fit for purpose. Humane hunting to reasonable expectations of range and energy performance. 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz 177 263
Hopefully one of the members on here with a Ranger will step forward and give you their opinion on owning one, I myself own a Daystate MK4 Target (aka Panther) and all I can say is it hasn't let me down or skipped a beat Whilst it's always disappointing when hearing of any problems with a manufacturer, you don't seem to get or hear of good reviews as much as you do a bad one? IMO most take the time out to post a bad review and share their experience as opposed to a good one, probably cause if its a good one we are too busy out and enjoying it All manufacturers are without fault in some capacity and it is annoying to say the least when it happens to you All I can suggest is do as much research as possible and ideally try before you buy whatever the manufacturer be, good luck with your choice/decision Edited May 5, 2014 by Gaz 177 Quote Link to post

At the moment Daystate guns are not what they use to be . Newer models seem to suffer more than the older ones and the Regal has become the new r10 for Daystate, what I mean by that , when BSA came out with the r10 nothing but problems and it took them 3 attempts with new versions of the same gun . 3 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
I'm just off out to shoot this afternoon and I will be taking my HW80 .22 for some serious long-range rabbit work. A powerful and superbly accurate rifle that has never once let me down in 16 years of owning her. My HW77 .22 is just as good. My HW97K is just as good .177. My TX200HC .177 is just as good. I just wish my Regal was. 2 Quote Link to post
risingfriend 1,042
Its a shame there has been problems with the regal because its a thing of beauty, Not for me far to light for me but the huntsman same rifle seems to be spot on shot darryls (Marksman) on here at the thl meet at was spot on 2 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,982
Daystate Huntsman is a far better gun than the Regal, my shooting partner has a huntsman it so lovely to shoot and that why I thought I would have the Regal , BIG ,BIG Mistake ,glad to get all of my money back 2 Quote Link to post
Mr Mcgoo 18
This due to cheaper parts on daystates or are they now being made else ware? I agree with what is said. Older daystates were something special. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
I bought Helen a Huntsman Classic for Christmas. And I was so impressed with its looks and performance, I wanted one. Then I saw the Regal and thought this was an "improvement"! Apart from my main gripe about lack of power, I screwed-on an A&M Silencer I won at a past THL meet and when I tightened it securely into place, the bloody barrel rotated slightly, about a one third-turn in its breech! Not a happy state of affairs really. On the other hand, went out yesterday with my HW80 .22 FAC rifle and a tin of H&N FTT and knocked down 9 rabbits including one at 62 yards in a wind, clean through its heart. A 16 year-old spring rifle that can do the job properly. I'm not getting into the calibre debate as, a .177 round is every bit as effective as a .22 when shot into the brain. But when I turn my aim on a living creature, I want my shot to hit hard, accurately and the rabbit killed instantly without suffering. Not killed slowly by a massive and agonising head injury. Whatever my next gun will be (probably HW80K .22). It won't be a Daystate PCP thank you very much! 1 Quote Link to post
