ONCE THE BEAGLE HAS GOT ON THE LINE ,IT WILL SWITCH ALL ITS HEARING DOWN AND STEP ON THE GAS ,,WILL EVENTUALLY COME BACK WHEN IT EITHER LOSES THE SCENT OR THE CULPRIT HAS GONE TO GROUND .

I'd say it depends on what your trying to achieve.....................

How much ground have you got ?

How fit are you ?

What sort of ground are you hunting?

How big are the covers?

The questions are endless really

I might be able to help you, I just happen !!!!!! to have a litter of pups from a working (registered pack) beagle to a very well bred but not entered Russell bitch as you can probably guess it wasn't a planned mating although the bitch has seen a couple of things and is doing ok. There two weeks old now and I'd be asking for 50 quid a pup just to stop people taking them on a whim and to contribute to feeding hounds. If anyone's interested give me a shout, cheers

one straight beagle on its own IMO is not the right dog for bushing. It will give tongue pretty much guaranteed, that's one pro, but I assure you you will spend a hell of a lot of time covering a hell of a lot of ground looking for your dog!!
