AshR1 214
read this online ' The Galgo Español (Spanish galgo) or Spanish greyhound is an ancient breed of dog, specifically a member of the sighthound family. The English Greyhound is possibly a descendant of the Spanish greyhound and, for several years in the 20th century, some breeders did cross-breed Galgos and Greyhounds in order to produce faster and more powerful Galgos, specifically for track racing purposes. A tradition in Spain has Galgos being killed at the end of every hunting season; the animals are often hung; strangled to death 'Anyone know if there is any truth to this? Quote Link to post

There is truth to it I'm afraid to say but it's not a tradition.... A wanker is a wanker and unfortunately there are a large number over them here in the game. A lot of Animal rights nuts use this story the same way our antis use the shite of the few to tar the many Must admit you see a large number of rehomed Galgos in the citys and towns here Quote Link to post

Yes, some for the Spanish PTS their dogs by hanging them. Feck knows why? TBH you sound like every anti I have ever met! This hanging them is a rare thing done by pricks. The majority just give them away or shoot them, so why not point that out if you know so much? Bit like saying all terrier men block their warriors with the shovel ffs or lurcher men put 5 dogs on deer. Quote Link to post
mushroom 14,163
I am just saying how it is and I am not just talking about running dogs, its what happens to dogs in Spain. It's not that uncommon. I have seen programs about it when I was over there. I don't think its the right thing to do but it happens. I don't know how I sound like an anti, I don't agree with it either. It is a very rare thing, just because you saw it on the telly come on man ffs. What is more usual is abandoning them to the rescues. I get reall annoyed when people take something that has happened and use it to tar everybody that's why you come across as anti Quote Link to post
