Outlaw Pete 2,224
Actually, guys? It seems I shouldn't have worried! I've just found (and shamelessly borrowed!) this photo, from Paul C, over on Native Birds. His first coloured canaries ~ I'm looking at coloured's ..... If they'll nest happily like That?! I'll have nothing to worry about!
fireman 11,538
I use those and wicker ones in my aviaries Pete, the thing about those cages is they give you good access and they give the birds that bit more space in the cage. With the greenie mules i bred in that big cage they had a pan like that as well and they just nested from one to the other when they went again, that sounds a good idea for a simple easy to clean nest pan that stig and painted up green or something to blend it in has given me a idea maybe :hmm:cheers . wild rover 548
Im a fairly newbie this is just my 3rd breeding season, I breed canaries and use nest pans in the breeder cage, the birds are in the aviary for winter but come in to breed, they dont seem to be bothered by my presence and will let me clean or change the pans if need be. taz2010 1,297
Benefits from exterior nest pans are you will not disturb the birds half as much whilst checKing eggs or removing to replace with dummy eggs ,ringing and lot easier to clean around nest as pan is easily removed no good for natives as said a,leafy but brilliant for canaries and if I were you I'd have exterior pans worth the extra pound and easily cleaned and put away till following year
