bobcullen79 1,495
Hey all. Well after having a really crap start to my season(none existent- dry permission), I went out today with new member willpalmer... I thought his plea for a partner on his 40000 acres of permission was just too good to be true, especially being 5 mins away from me.. It wasnt. I picked Will up very local, which was nice, at 7.15, and set off only to be met with a closed road half through our journey, and Im thinking, please dont be an omen. Another half hour later we got to Will`s place about 8.20am. Safe trip, not much drizzle. No sooner than I opened the boot, the heavens opened. Will`s only in some posh jumper and a shirt and I`m thinking, we`ll be back in the motor, homeward bound in an hour.. We was`nt. Got to the first set, in a bramble patch, which was just right for the 50yd quickie.. In goes a handful of purse nets and 4 jills.. Results came quick. 5 out of the 1st set. Well happy - we`re catching rabbits! We ended up doing around 6,7, maybe 8 warrens varying in size from 2/3 hole`s to 25/30 holer`s on all sorts of terrain. Will was happy with his ferret(s)? as the ones he brought were fairly new to the game and my two jill`s shook off the rust very fast, I was more than happy with my two. We had one shallow dig, retrieving our quarry, and two flipped the purse as it was quite snaggy in some places. We stayed for a full day, as this bit of land was very vast, and although the rabbit population was abundant, we done a fair bit of walking to pick and choose the best warrens as we dont have a dog. Still, we done ok. For a total of 24, plus 3 escapees. (sorry smithie ,it was 24, not 26 ) Any way some pics.. 5 Quote Link to post

Williampalmer 20
Nice one mate , cracking day especially with the weather being like it was :/ some of them warrens were pretty deep, the ferrets had to work hard to bolt the fuckers, if we hadn't been cut off in the morning we would have reached the 30 mark, oh and if you didn't let them 3 escape haha. Next trips on Friday, hopefully goes as well as today, nice longnet stop 2 Quote Link to post
