Was working this morning but was desperate to get out with the ferrets and dog so finished a bit early and headed out just about 10.got too a little bit of land we have permission for and netted up a nice set with only about 15holes,my little whippet pup was marking well for only being out a handful of times and I was a little apprehensive about letting him have a run at a rabbit here as there was a road near by so I kept him really close.anyway we put one ferret in and within seconds we could hear the rumbling and up popped a rabbit from the middle of a pile of logs,no net and it sat looking at us for a split second then it tried to take of and like a flash,my young whippet was on it turned round and put it basiclly in my hand!!!!i was totally over the moon haha (first time he had properly given it to my hand)!anyway we quickly bolted another 5 out the set into the nets.after a fair wee walk over a few fields we found another couple of small sets.time was getting on now and we came to our last set,it was in a disused farm yard under a pile of tires and bricks and was really awkward so we just fired a ferret in and had Riley sitting tight next to me.straight away the rumbling started and one came out like a bullet straight across the yard with Riley right behind it and they both skidded down a banking.i slowly jogged over expecting to see the dog marking a hole the rabbit went down but he was half way down the bloody thing,I slid down the banking to have a look and he had a hold of it by one back leg!!!haha I was so chuffed he even got near it never mind got a hold of it! We went home with a bag of 9 rabbits and I couldn't have been happier with my wee pup.specially since he's my first ever dog!small bag but one of the best days ive had and ive kept ferrets since I was a boy haha.great to see my dog working with the ferrets.think my team is now complete new to this,so once I work out how to share photos I defo will Edited December 30, 2013 by Meeks 2 Quote Link to post
