Craig83 52
Suppose I'm asking is the .22 WMR any good? Is it accurate what's the pro's and cons? Quote Link to post
alan81 110
its a very good gun I have the CZ 452 lux .22 WMR and I use Hornady 30gr v-max through it. its not as flat as the .17 HMR but your only talking a few inch's at 150 yards. with a zero at 100 yards you would be using a 1 mill dot hold over at 150 - 160 yards and at 200 yards you would use a 2 1/4" mill dot hold over. it is affected by wind fairly badly but not as badly as the .17 HMR. a 10 - 12 mpr cross wind will affect it by anything from 4.5" - 6.5" at 100 yards. the 30gr v-max round is a very good round imo, I shot rabbits out to 164 yards no problem [ my furthest rabbit ] and fox out to 130 yards no problem and 1 fox at 189 yards [ my furthest fox ]. its not as accurate as the .17 HMR but it is still very accurate, I can get 1/2" groups with it when im on form and will shoot 3/4" groups all day. I would recommend the .22 WMR to anyone. hope this helps atb. Quote Link to post
Craig83 52
Louder than a HMR? Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
Louder than a HMR? I wouldn't say so, but a different sort of crack. Mine is used almost exclusively with 30g V-Max now and is an excellent Goose and medium range Fox tool, for some reason I just don't see it as a rabbit tool, my .22lr's and HMR get that role. Accuracy wise I have never got it as tight as my HMR but the difference isn't worth talking about at 100 yards due to the bigger hole/energy it carries. I love my WMR, and as I always say, it gives me a feeling of confidence. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,491
I'll buy one on my return to blighty. Cheers for the help guys Wilts Rod & Gun had my last off me, cracking gun but the barrel was 16", I wanted it a bit longer so got the new one in the pic, and did a bit of work on it. As it happens my last loved CCI 40g Maxi Mag HP V, this one doesn't, and they are both CZ Americans. If you want some ammo I still have a sealed box of 500 of those available at a good price. alan81 110
here's two 100 yard 3 shot groups I shot 10 min ago I would have done a few 5 shot groups but I only had 6 rounds. the shots were taken of the bipod while lying on the ground. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,491
By the way firs WR&G still have yours. I'm amazed, that was a looooooong time ago, my lad lives in Swindon so I pop in most times I'm over there for a chat/shop, I have not seen it on his wall for a year or two, perhaps he has it round the back somewhere. It was a good gun, daft though it may seem at 16" the barrel was just too short for me, personal preference, simple as, (I had bought it this way) there was not a problem with accuracy or reliability, (hence why I bought another CZ American WMR). Someone will get a bargain there if he still has it, but this far down the line it will need a good check to make sure everything is still in good nick, it was thoroughly clean when I sold it to Tony, he's a good guy so I expect he has taken care of it. If you have any interest in the ammo when you get back just pm me and we can have a chat! Quote Link to post
Craig83 52
Yeah I know tony very well and his wife. I'll get the old boy to ring him tomorrow. I'll be back around April time ish Quote Link to post
