DenBell 149
knew for a day or two that i was going to get out tonight and had been looking forward to it all day, this morning when i was packing the truck decided to only put the springer (stoeger x20 suppressor) in as it would force me to stalk a little more, easy to take 40 odd yard shots with a PCP but with a crap springer like the stoeger you need to get a little closer. got to the back of the field and walked around clockwise like i always do and saw nothing, big contrast with sunday when i saw hoards. jumped the little fence to the front of the property and spotted a little rabbit on the hill side 50-55 yrds away took my first step and broke a bloody big stick that sounded like an silenced live round going off!! annoyed with myself i calmed down remembering that this is why i was out to improve the stalking. i sat in a massive empty compost bin to let things calm down i peered over the top and saw a rabbit right up the top of the garden towards the field i had just come down off, it was over 100 yards away so perfect opportunity for a stalk, walked quietly paying attention to my steps and walking hunched over using flower beds as a cover of sorts. i got to within the magic 30yrds and realized that the rabbit was an inch or two from a burrow so i waited till it grazed away from the burrow a bit. its head was down in the long grass so i did something i have never tried before and did a squeak. it worked first time and it reared up exposing the head. i was standing by a tree so i put arm on tree and used it as a rest and pulled trigger. perfect shot just behind the eye. with one in the bag and the light fading it was time to go home, relatively happy with my one stalk but wondering where all the rabbits have gone i saw sunday. 2 Quote Link to post

Craig Fosse 286
It comes and goes with the time of year now, exactly the same on my permission sometimes quite a few other times barely one, try different times of the day, animals arnt stupid, and most often when it's windy and raining and has just stopped they like to come out for some air!, stalking is an art, one day it just clicks and you find ur self standing and walking nearer to them when ur thinking to urself..... I could never have done this when I first started... 1 Quote Link to post
