walshie 2,804
Next year is the centenary of the start of WW1. This project is to plant millions of poppies to commemorate it and remember the fallen. Even Cameron backed it. The Heritage Lottery Fund who fund stuff like this has refused a grant for it, even though they have given nearly £100k to the Peace Pledge Union (PPU), to raise awareness of the role of conscientious objectors during the war. They approached the PPU to tell them to ask for funding? Where are people's priorities? What's more important - Remembering the men and boys who laid down their lives for their country or a bunch of cowards? Disgusting. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/world-war-one/10300545/WW1-poppy-plan-endorsed-by-David-Cameron-is-turned-down-for-funding.html
Rake aboot 4,936
Not all objectors were cowards. But yes, I see your point. If they won`t support this, then what is the point of them at all.

But IMO letting any of those reasons get in the way of defending your country is a cowardly act. But that's not the point. Objectors should not be given priority in this case.

Couldn't agree more, buddy ! The priority should be focussed on those who didn't come back, not those who didn't go in the first place !
