Jill Had Kits Late

Recommended Posts

Right guys I have a question don't shoot me down as vets may be on the cards I value the Jill highly,

She had a late litter 24th in the evening , four kits two died , two health ones left , Jill is eating for Britain and drinking plenty water , she has put on a lot of weight I think due to there only being two kits , she doesn't look off , but she still looks pregnant ???? , question, infection ???? Some left in???? But if so it's nearly two weeks ???? Vets ASAP. ??? Or what ??????

Similar thing happened to me mate but she was alrite, maybe just a lot of milk in her and the 2 isnt draining her?

Have you had a feel of her belly if there's some left you should be able to feel them, or does she seem uncomfortable when touching her belly,

Just my experience pal so I could be wrong, hope you get her sorted

Wouldn't have thought she,d still be here Jamie if theres more kits inside her, septacemia would have set in days ago, more likely due to the small litter shes not getting drained like a big litter would, excess milk would be absorbed :hmm:

Yes what I thought . Best to be aware though and thanks for your thoughts , the kits are some size already and lively for the age . Last litter the Jill was hanging off my arm when I opened the cage , she's not bothered this time round , a hob and a Jill . Jill for me and a nice hob for Magwitch : ) you can never have enough hobs mate ,? Lol .

A few years ago I put one of my jills to my pals hob, come the morning she had somehow escaped and was gone for two weeks, eventually turned up in a neighbours chicken coop :icon_eek::D anyway she was stick thin and looked shocking, soon put some flesh back on her and she produced two live hob kits and three dead ones, the two hobs were massive, still got one here....its the size of an otter  wether this was due to lack of competition for milk I don't know, maybe they would have been big anyway...the mother is only medium sized and the hob was similar size...the hob kit I kept(Earl :icon_redface: )wont even fit in my ferret box  good luck with the kits ,they should be fine
