Slight admission here - I had no idea who the first pic was but when you click on it, it says Derek Brockway.

Ivor though is well known in England.

Well done, if you get this one right your free to move to Wales. :D

  • 3 weeks later...

Well, been to Tenby now and I admit I was pleasantly suprised on a couple of counts. Firstly a lot of seaside towns are inclined to be a bit tacky, especially towards the end of the season, but that wasn't the case here. Lovely little historic town with loads to see and do. The scenery around Pembrokeshire is stunning.

Secondly I was a bit apprehensive when I read some comments about the Welsh hating the English and fully expected some of the pubs we went in to go all silent or Welsh speaking when I ordered a pint in my best English accent, but that didn't happen. I felt at home from the minute I got there to the minute I left.

We've been travelling the country a bit recently just having the odd weekend here and there to get a feel for different areas before we decide to move out to the sticks and take it a bit easier. This was the first place I've felt genuinely sad to say goodbye to. :cray:

There's still a few more areas on our list to explore yet, but Pembrokeshire is definitely worth a closer inspection.

The final touch to a good weekend was meeting Malt and his mrs. About 2 minutes after meeting them it was as if we had known them for years, and most of their friends in the pub too. You just don't get that sort of welcome round here. Just a short while into the evening mrs Malt and mrs Walshie were gossiping like next door neighbours. Now mrs Walshie knows exactly who has been seeing who behind who's back and who is dating someone half his age.

Even met Malt's Dad. Yet another sound Taff.

Now our misgivings about the Welsh are well and truly put to bed, you boyos can expect to see a bit more of us.

 Was great to meet you and Trish too, me and Sam had a really good night! :good: Glad you and Trish enjoyed yourselves. ;)

Was thinking about nicknames like you were on about. We told you about Dai the Boot and randy old Harbour Nigel and I remembered Bill the ship (used to have a pub called the ship) my mate Scottish Daz (self explanatory!) Black Bob (has a big birthmark round his eye that looks like a shiner!) and a few others I've forgot again now!
