Yokel Matt 918
I'd have thought life as a working ferret would be a short lived game with all the little nasties you have over there isn't it? Do you lose any to snake bites etc, I lost one to what I assume was an adder encounter once here in the uk and that is considered a rareity. Quote Link to post
OzTerrier 21
The oak saplings/ acorns came from England (as did the foxs) when we colonised the place. Technically they are English foxs and I wouldn't have thought for a minute they are happy about having them over there. Have a little think before try and tell the guy where he lives. Nice vixen to be sure, love the short legged jrt. Yeah plenty of stuff over here was brought here by lot haha 'the foxes are the the same European Red Foxes you have in the UK 'only difference is over here they are a pest that kill small native wildlife as well as farmers sheep and poultry. He thinks you refer to the stock on his shotgun , you are refering to the vegitation , get a grip boys lol I wouldn't have a clue about the vegetation 'I know we have a lot of different varieties of trees and other plants that are from the UK 'Pine trees 'cedar trees ect. The Shotgun is from Liege Belgium 'its an oldie but a goodie 'does the job for me 'it does have the old style straight grip stock (English style) instead of the current day pistol grip stocks that shotguns have. Im like the older style I find it smoother and quicker to point. Edited August 29, 2013 by OzTerrier Quote Link to post

Yeah thats always a risk when you put your ferrets down warrens over here. We have been lucky so far and have never lost one (Touch Wood). We have had ferrets not come out and we have gone back the next day and found them waiting for us at the entrance of the warren. We lost 1 ferret for an entire week a few years back 'dad went and got him back on the 6th day by putting a big polecat buck into the warren and it dragged the other ferret out by the scruff of it's neck. So we have been very lucky indeed. Edited August 29, 2013 by OzTerrier Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
This almost wasn't worth a reply but I will.... Don't be a prat! Have a little think before try and tell the guy where he lives.Nice vixen to be sure, love the short legged jrt. No-one told the guy where he lived. It was asked if he was back living here or visiting. Yep I said it looked like an English wood and above you said it was. That clearly indicates you're in England. He thinks you refer to the stock on his shotgun , you are refering to the vegitation , get a grip boys lol Yeah that explains it Shovel. The wonders of the internet and understanding. It is a nice gun though. Edited August 29, 2013 by Alsone Quote Link to post

AXUM 255
Dad and I went out for a bit of ferreting yesterday 'we only wanted to give a first time worker a run and see if he could bolt a couple of bunnies. We worked him with another more experienced ferret to show him the ropes. He did alright but stayed underground for 40 minutes on the first warren 'much to our displeasure. The next warren we did was only a couple of holes 'we bolted a pair one of which managed to get out of the net 'the other was not as lucky. I also took one of my JRT's out for a run. It was her first time out in the field 'she is 7 years old and was great 'she found a fox curled up sleeping in a tussock 'gave a bark and the fox woke up had a yawn 'and thats when I saw it 'the SxS was at the shoulder and 1 barrel of BBs from 30 yards sealed the deal. She also chased another fox down into a wombat hole but we were unable to get to the hole so that fox gets to live to fight another day. As we were leaving we spotted another fox trotting across a paddock 'the fox sat down and watched us for about 10 minutes then it casually walked off into the next gully So not too much action 'but it was a good way to spend a couple of hours out in the field on a Sunday morning did you lose that dog before.. i see the green tag lol. im from victoria also.
