Obviously I am not saying this dog catches 10/10 everytime :D But 90% 0f the time he will catch 7 or more from 10 just like a good dog should  The fields are medium sized with heavy ditches but he follows them into the diches, Golf courses in my opinion can make a good dog look a mug although this dog did 6/6 one night on a golfcourse :toast::clapper: But thats not to say the next night up there he could catch 2 theres just to many obsticales  Ok lets say medium sized fields, medium lenght grass, not very good but not bad weather conditions, not very lamp shy not all squatters and a fit dog how many does your dog get out of 10?:whistling: I dont think about those that get away but sometimes its nice to know your dog didnt miss any

I would just like to add I have just read the topic again and I thinks it comes across as if I am bragging about the dog but I am not in any way  So I hope nobody thinks that is the case, FOXDOG

nope

nice thread, lots of variable out there. Probably why them lamping competitions never got off the ground. Problem being biggest variable out there - the owners!

Out lamping the dog is only going to run what you slip it on.

Choosing the right slips will only boost averages.

But like they say be happy with what you got and enjoy those windy nights when you own the god-damned countryside (if only we did).

I don't think you have come across as arrogant  Its a good thread, I just thought that there were too many variables. Last season I had a go at lamping a shepherd, he needs rabbits that are feeding 100 yards from safety and i'd be happy with 1/10 :D . Although the other night he ran a "shadow" during exercise and hit a hedgehog, funnily enough he didn't retreive it
