L_Punter 0
Hi Guys, Have only just joined the forum so thought I would post up and introduce myself - My name is Lee Punter (20) and live in Cambridgeshire. I am new to hunting (haven't even purchased an air rifle yet) was part of army cadets and have shot a .22 rifle before. Just wanted to put my feelers out and pick your brains for some useful knowledge. Am looking to get into pigeon/rabbit shooting in my local area - does anyone know anywhere in the Cambridgeshire area I could do this? what are the main pieces of equipment that I will need to purchase (clothing, pellets etc)? Any suggestions for a starting air rifle (have been looking at BSA ultra multishot & King ratcatcher) my budget is up to £350? Any other useful information is welcome as I'm sure there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum!
walshie 2,804
Nice introduction Lee. Welcome I'd say get your airgun first and practice on targets with it before you try shooting live animals. When you are consistently hitting the same spot on the target and you have your distances sorted, you stand a lot less chance of leaving some poor animal wounded. As for finding somewhere to shoot, dressing smartly and knocking on farmers' doors is probably the only way. Equipment you'll need depends on what you are going to shoot, day or night etc. but my first step would be a decent pair of boots. As for which air rifle is best for you, I'm sure there are many people in the airgun section who will be only too happy to point you in the right direction. Put a post up there. They are a friendly enough bunch.
