Man O War Dog Show, racing And Digging Last Sunday 16Th June 13

Recommended Posts

The town land of Man O War just outside Keady Co Armagh , opposite beautiful Clea lake was the venue for the Man O War Dog Show/Race Day and Digging Competition last Sunday 16th June 13. A tributary of the River Callan, Clea lake flows radiantly along the winding roads which lead us to this stunning part of Northern Ireland and the venue for this superb family day out.

Plunkett Rafferty, owner of the show field , and father of the organisers had the ground in mint condition. With a backdrop of spectacular scenery and good weather, this was the perfect venue for holding a Dog Show with its brilliant race course, showing area, and ringside parking.

The show was run with impeccable organisation, and the rosettes and trophys were class. There was a very large turnout from north and south of the border , twinned up with a big turnout out of Lurchers, Terriers, and Whippets. Keady is noted for its great trout lakes. John Lip Rooney was biting his nails off, because he did not bring his fishing gear along to the show. Better luck the next time John.

The show commenced at approximately 12.30 noon.

Here are the Results, hope I have left nobody out.

Well done Nikita, and all the other children who took part in the class. You were all winners on the day and you all made your parents very proud of you. And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank Plunkett and Mrs Rafferty for allowing the show to take place in their field. Without you this day would not off been possible. Many thanks for that. The judges on the day did a wonderful job. Many thanks to John Prenter from Dublin, Terrier and Lurcher Judge , and Vincey Grimley from Armagh, Whippets. The task of judging is not easy at anytime, but you both carried out your duties firm, but very fair. Our thanks goes out to both of you. The racing went like clockwork, without a hitch. A big thank you to the NILRC for a job well done. John Lip Rooney and Billy Harpur took charge of the photographs for the day, and buoy did they do a great job. Well done by both men, and I look forward to seeing them up on this forum shortly. We must not forget the generous sponsors for being so generous with sponsoring such a worthy Charity show. Many, many thanks for your generosity.

And Finally,Finally, what can I say about these two women that will praise them enough for the magnificent show they produced on Sunday. It makes you proud to be a woman in a mans world. Charlene and Michelle, your show was well organised, and evident that a lot of hard work was carried out behind the scenes to make it such a success and an enjoyable day for everybody. And enjoyable it certainly was. You are both stars in my eyes and your generosity and kindness has no bounds. From the bottom of my heart, thanks to you both for the beautiful Killarney Crystal Vase you presented me with at your show. I do my write ups and advertising for all our shows, North and South of the border as a labour of love and expect nothing in return. Thank you again for your kindness.

Lets not forget, at the end of the day this show was run for Charity, a Charity very close to Michelle and Charlenes hearts. The Charity nominated by the girls is the : NDCS ( National Deaf Childrens Society) It will be comforting to Michelle and Charlene to know that the money raised at their show will benefit children in our community and further afield, and enable them to hear the dawn chorus in the morning and the lovable sound of their mothers voice in years to come. What a gift and what a contribution to society. Also don’t forget It was you, the show goers generosity, and that of the sponsors that will help to enable these children to get the medical help they need to live normal and comfortable lives now and in their future paths in life. Well done Michelle and Charlene, you both done a great job, and many thanks for a great show and a most enjoyable day out.
