yorkshire-kid 44
I have posted this also in the lurcher section got a little joy but looking to widen my knowledge on the subject. Basically I have a 3 year old patt and I'm looking it get a pup(whippet). I just have a few questions. My patt Dosent take kindly to some dogs but bitches touch wood he's normally fine. Will he be better with a pup of any gender? What are the chances of him turning? I know they are hard questions to answer but just wondering if anyone has been in this situation. Also both dogs will be kept indoors due to theiving scum around here! Thanks in advance yorkshire-kid Quote Link to post
BIGLURKS 874
Some dogs think they own you and any other potential dog is trying too take over its house how does the dog act around the house does it jump up on folk attack unknown people that come in your house is the dog going too sniff the other dogs is it presenting itself at all or just lunging at other dogs Quote Link to post
yorkshire-kid 44
No he's placid around people and knows his place. I just want the best for both dogs and prepare for every situation. If I'm ready and the patt is ready a whippet x will be the next addition around august time. Quote Link to post

skycat 6,174
Never ever trust an adult terrier with a pup of any type. Yours may be OK, but it only takes seconds for a terrier to kill a puppy. Whether you get a dog (not recommended if your terrier is male) or a bitch, the adult can take exception to the intruder. Is your dog normally very friendly and laid back with other dogs? If so, you may have a chance at getting a puppy accepted, but only allow them together while you have eyes on them: I know of a terrier bitch that killed a 16 week old lurcher pup twice her size while the owner left them for a few moments to make a cup of tea. Prior to that the terrier had been fine with the pup. Never take that chance. Quote Link to post

I will be taking it very slowly and they will be separated when not supervised I have been assessing the situation for a while its nt a rash decision. I have been introducing him to many pups and all seems well but he will never be left for that opportunity to do anything. Thankyou for the reply yorkshire-kid Quote Link to post
