The chop 1
I thought I'd say hello and jump right in with a question in here than the newbies area. Anyway long time since I've owned an air rifle, but kept up with the makes and models so got a fare idea of what's what. Anyway I've got this BSA tactical, forgot which one, that's been given to me with a view to buy, to be honest it's a right nail, the trigger is so hard to pull, it's not been looked after, it's had a hard paper Round and had more owners than leeds utd, so I'm not buying it, before this I was looking at getting a BSA r10 I've seen some of the groups bsa's can do from the video si pittaway does, now I've been looking at air arms again, ie, 410, 510, and 510tc, just don't want to make the wrong decision with the price of these guns. Mainly it will be used for target with rat rabbit and pigeon, also shot, the other thing is my son is right handed, but until getting this gun he shoots left so looking at ambi stocks, Because I won't have a bottle straight away, and live 1min drive from a gun shop where I can get refills for £1, 100 and above shots would be Ok for me till I saved to get a bottle. Cheers. Quote Link to post
Lewis Ste 245
Take a look at the airarms s410 super lite, they have nice ambi stocks and can get carbine or standard length and accurate as anything else on the market Quote Link to post
audiguypaul 28
Ive just got a new 510 Hunter, lovely light rifle and very smooth, best to find somewhere you can try a few before you buy, its a lot to spend blind if you dont try. ATB Paul Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
From what you have detailed I would say the 410 super lite would be right up your street as mentioned, laser accurate and ambi stock so both left and right handed shooters can use. Good amount of shots per fill as well in standard length as apposed to carbine length. But then again you would need to go shoulder one to see if it feels right for you and whoever else might be using it. Good luck Phil Quote Link to post

ATB Paul I think most at this price will be good, just read a lot of horror stories latley of the corner cutting some of the big names are doing to make a bigger profit margin, maybe a few pellets at the shop won't give me much of an idea of a gun, but will be able to tell how it shoulders. Also I've overlooked the hw100s, but at the time of writing this I've not looked to see if there is an ambi option. Think it's build quality I'm really looking at, if one make out of the one's mentioned stands out more than the others. Cheers. Quote Link to post

Mawders 595
That's the easy part! For me its .177. Always been a .22 man but since feb this year have really been enjoying the .177 cal and probably won't go back to .22 just because of the flatter trajectory. Quote Link to post
Lewis Ste 245
.22= more shots and better for hunting (justmyopinion) .177 =less shots and more runners when hunting (jmo) I use my rifles to hunt not paper punching some makes sense to use .22 Atb lads Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
agreed bigger is better when hunting. although I don't do too bad with my .177 last runner I got was with my .22 tho -- a rabbit at about 20 yards,, could see the pellethole and blood gushing out next to its eye . then it got up and ran about 10 yards to the warren and got down its hole. I was gutted!! Quote Link to post
audiguypaul 28
I tried the 400 superlite which was great, only issue for me was i found the single shot a bit fiidly to load, it was the side lever cocking of the 510 that finaly made me do it. Quote Link to post
