Dogs Knowing When You're Coming Home .....

Recommended Posts

 A chance reference to that, on another thread here, just reminded me of something .....

I used to have this Pit Bull. Lovely dog, obviously. And, at that time, it was just me and him living together. I'd go off to work and he'd amuse himself with his own thoughts till I came home again. Then we'd go down the pub. We were happy in our routine.

And, every night, when I got home, I'd open the front door and call, " Dad's back, son! ". And he'd pop out of the living room door and trot out to meet me. Wagging his spiky tail :)

I'll never forget though, the time I went to the dentist to have a tooth out. Couple of shots into my gum and palate. All feeling vanishes from my face. Tooth out. Me off home.

My face was still completely numb when I got there. Put my key in the door. Opened it. And let out a roar like a retarded bull moose! I just registered this flash of movement inside and slammed the door shut again, just as that dog hit it like a f**king train!!! :icon_eek:

I had to f**k off and sit about till my face worked again. So I was able to call my usual greeting like it was me.

I think the moral of this story is; Don't give Pit Bull Terriers guns. They might demonstrate a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later

Great story and great dogs, I have staffies and they dont half protect the home, anyone can walk through the door with me and they are fine but I locked my keys out and had to get a ladder and go through the window. I put my head in and they came flying at me growling until they realized it was me. Guess they just know that people who are supposed to be in the flat dont come in through the window.

Do your dogs recognize your footsteps? Mine know when its me coming up the stairs, They dont bother with anyone else but when I come up they are running round by the front door
