Whatever happened to the old buttermilk we used to get?

The stuff they sell in the shops now isn't even close to the original. REAL buttermilk was the liquid left over from churning butter. This new stuff is just milk with cultures added to it.

I love home made buttermilk pancakes, but this new imposter isn't a patch on the old one.

Any ideas where to get the proper stuff?

Would you mind starting your own thread? I would like a simple answer to a simple question. I need my pancakes.

Could the real buttermilk please stand up lol

I never go on it mate. I know what she's called on here though, but I finish in 15 minutes so you'll just need to guess lol.

I don't get it. Buttermilk in the shops is now called "cultured buttermilk" and it's nothing like the real thing.
