Dessie Mackens Dog Show and Racing last Saturday 6^th April 13

 

I was awakened by the echo of the dawn chorus, dogs barking and howling for their morning stroll across the fields in the fresh spring air of our lovely countryside along the Bann River, Yes it was that time of the year again. Saturday the 6^th of April, and time to head to Dessie Mackens show, and also the first dog show of the year. It was nice to be taking the trailer out again after a long cold and snowy winter stuck in the house. It was definitely a labour of love.

 

We arrived at the show venue around 10am, and already there were quite a few canine folk and their families in the field. For the first show of the year, there was a very good attendance, and God was good to us with the weather. The sun shone all day, but got pretty cold in the evening. The measuring and grading started at 11.00am, and Racing started at 12.30 noon. Here are some results, as they were given to me. Hope I have got them all. PM me if there are some final results I do not have and I will edit them in.

The childrens handling class was a big highlight of the show. I t was nice to see so many little people in the ring , and they were all winners on the day. A big congratulations to all.

A big congratulations to Tracy on your well deserved win.

And also a big congratulations to all the winners of the Racing Finals and heat winners, and a big thank you to all who took part and did not win anything. Well done to you all.

 

I had a nice wee win myself when I won the Whippet Dog Class with our Whippet Dog Riley. And my husband John Mc Stay, won the Whippet Pairs with our Whippets Patch and Darcy.

 

And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges Mickey Quinn, Michelle Rafferty, Teri Mc Vitty, and the Terrier lady who I did not manage to get her name, for a brilliant job carried out efficiently on the day. Also for all Dessies helpers, Nigel Greer, Tom Barry, Leanne Barry, Lee Archer, Teri Mc Vitty, and anybody else that helped out on the day, many thanks. Billy Harpur was there clicking away with his camera. I am sure Billy will have some lovely memorable photographs to show us. I look forward to that. Many thanks Billy.

 

I cannot forget the man of the show. Dessie, thank you so much for a lovely day and a most enjoyable show, and I am looking forward to the next one on Saturday the 4^th May..
