The Duncan 802
Hi folks, I've heard from some people that having your bitch speyed can be detrimental to prey drive. Has anyone found this to be the case? Life with a Patterdale bitch and a Lurcher bitch and a stud Ridgeback can be trying at times so I was considering my options. baldockbanks courser 598
I'd never spay/cas a working dog, imagine how sick you'd be if it ended up a very decent animal!

baldockbanks courser 598
Yeah I think you'd be better sticking with a riffle, always need more lunatics shooting every fox to bits and leaving the others running for cover at the click of a lamp button so you can't get a dog near them. Keep up the good work.

Huan72 687
Just a quick thought and something to consider, depending how your dogs get on but spaying a bitch can make her more dominant. Its not normally a problem but if one of your bitches is very dominant it may be worth considering, although if your not bothered about breeding the health benefits almost always outweigh other issues.
The Duncan 802
thanks for an intelligent response. I can handle dominance issues no problem so its not a big issue. And as I don't intend to breed from her (there are too many dogs out there, lets be honest) as long as she won't lose interest in the hunting field I'm happy to get her done. I hadn't realised that having a bitch spayed would be such an emotive topic! I did ask on here about that a while back, the responses were that it just delayed the period rather than bypass it altogether.
