smudgersmith 2
From a Glorious morning in Hampshire !!! Would like to reintroduce my old hob with two of my 3-year-old jills who have recently had litters, all the kits are away from their mothers ( separate court ) and the jills appear to be back to their normal condition. Is it safe to reintroduce this hob,!!!! I cannot put the jills in with the hob as the cage is only big enough for a single fert. Any pointers. Quote Link to post

stubby 175
ive got the same dilema, my hob had the run of the outside court, while the 2 jills and 14 kitts had the inside, now their bigger (7weeks) ive moved the hob to a hutch and given the mums and remaining kitts(8, 6 sold) the run of the complete court, and of course "buster" is hating a hutch we had him castrated 2 weeks back and he seems fine, but one of the jills seems to have become a bit snappy when anyone near the kitts, and towards him too when i held him near the wire Quote Link to post
smudgersmith 2
Put my old hob in with my jills yesterday, feck, it was like WWIII in there, initially the hob was not interested, the Jills gave him a few sniffs and plenty of chatter. I thought this is ok, and cleaned out the Hobs old cage. Within 10 minutes he was grabbing them and pulling the jills into the sleeping quarters as he had done early summer. The racket was something to hear, they had a right old set too and both jills gave the Hob a real drubbing. I had checked both the Jills and Hob before entering. The old Hobs tackle is very much reduced and there’s no swelling on the Jills. I thought I’d give it a while, after two hours everything appeared to be settled, I checked the Jills and they appeared fine. I checked again last night at 8pm and all seem quite of the ferret front. Question: will the attention of the Hob stimulate the jills back into season, and will the jills injure / maim the Hob if he’s persistent. I have to work in London today so am away from the courts, will not be home to about 11pm so will be tomorrow morning when I next see them. Just hoping all is well. Quote Link to post
darren m 1
just wondering --- may be a stupid question , when a hob comes out of season , so to speak , does his testicles retract for protection etc . Quote Link to post
