The one 8,618 Posted March 15, 2013 Report Share Posted March 15, 2013 We went back out today to a bit we did a fortnight ago but as its surrounded by good rabbiting ground i figured there would be a few back in the burrows , after parking the car we noticed the farmer had spread manure on the stubble field and clocked a easy 40/50 pheasants running off it , we netted up a big dip and fired in seven ferrets hoping to back net any that missed the nets first time . Then my son comes over with a badgers skull and says the rest of the skeletons over there after trying to fit the claws back into the tooth sockets i clicked what was wrong and dumped it . As we ferreted along the fence line we picked up twenty snares and dumped them at the top strainer i phoned the farmer to warm him somebody was setting snares on the fence as he had cattle in the next field , and i couldn't risk getting caught with them due to Scotlands new snaring laws . We ferreted the next field my son had a dig and i ferreted the next burrow for one rabbit as i returned to my son i noticed a rabbit sitting out on the burrow and thought wtf but after i went back it dissapeared down a single hole i had missed after ferreting it was added to the total . We ended up with seventeen and if you counted the small ones mid thirty's most bolted as if there arse was on fire even the smaller ones where netted as i was using two inch mesh nets and after gutting them they where all clean rabbits which came as a surprised due to the amount of wee ones we caught . 1 Quote Link to post

The one 8,618 Posted March 16, 2013 Author Report Share Posted March 16, 2013 Back out this morning went to a fishery normally like a swiss cheese the manager say hardly seen a rabbit had a walk round the holes are all over grown . headed back down the road to a farm we lamped mid week and put a few rabbits into a ditch first rabbit a dig and as i broke threw it bolted and we lost it , next one also a dig and after my son broke threw he got the ferret out and couldn't find the rabbit ,then we got caught in a white out and bolted for home Quote Link to post
