paulus 26
Applying for an fac for a gun you already posses that is over 12ft lbs is not the brightest idea mate as you would be just admitting you have broken the law and firearm sentences are very harsh, get them chronographed and set below the legal limit before you do anything else. Mantonman 1
Hi if you are interested in getting an FAC granted for shooting over land first you need to obtain written permission from the land owner/ tennent who has what you believe is suitable land for the calibre(s) you are interested in. You should enquire of them to find out if the land has been cleared for rifle shooting and if so, what calibre's The next step is to install suitable a security cabinet for the safekeeping of the firearms involved. You can then download and print out Firearms Form 101 along with the Application for an SGC and digest the content; the next step is to visit the BASC website and preferably join, this will give you the necessary insurance cover which most land owners insist upon. All information you need will be found on the BASC site. When you have done your homework, you may wish to talk with one of your Police Forces FEOs (Firearms Enquiry Officer) working from the Firearms Registry, they will be able to offer you advice. Depending on your circumstances and experiance, you may find it might be an idea to apply for FAC Air Rifle first. I suggest .22 at around 30 foot pound energy. If you can give further info regarding your requirements I will be happy to respond further. By the way, membership of a Club is always helpful in applying for a grant of certificate.
