Guest Ditch_Shitter
JD, Now ye Really talking my language, mate! Moth traps, expensive? I don't think so. They just cost a lot of money Specialised equipment ~ or texts, for that matter ~ always do. I'm owed a fiendish ammount of money by the poxy brit' govt. If I can just hang on in there and live till they stop twisting and hiding and f*cking well do what they say on the can? Robinson trap for me! Three ton's worth of certain capture and containment for anything that comes by! They reckon if they get into one of those things? They'll be there in the morning! Saying all that though; I'm pretty well obsessed. But then, while idiots sit around fretting, saying they're " Hunters " and can't (watch their Dogs) Hunt till a few spare months in 'winter', I personally find an outlet for my own instincts every day and night. Pretty much all day and night too. I'll hunt Anything! Plants to dead rellie's to moths, what ever. I'll always find Something to satisfy my craving to track something down and come up with it. And, when I go after something, I don't hold anything back. That's why I want a Robbie. Best damn moth trap on the market That one I made? basicly a Heath type trap. It worked. I caught dozens of moths in it on good nights. Only the perspex let me down. Too thin to withstand the handling and so forth. It simply cracked up. Now I just rely on them coming to my window and I rush out there and grab them in a coffee mug which I slip a sheet of perspex under. It's a shit method because I seldom manage a decent shot of them in the mug and, if I refridgerate them for the night to calm them down a bit, then A/ I have no mug to catch the next one with and B/ The buggers only allow me seconds to get That shot before they flutter around the room and become Dog snackettes Anyway; Want to do it on the dead cheap and without a power source? (Can't ye just bang out another book and buy a Robbie and a small gennie, ye tight c***?! ) No problemmo. Get yeself that white sheet and get hold of a Tilley lantern. Shield one side so it throws most light on ye sheet and away ye go. Travelling light Book to get is Waring, Townsend and Lewington. " Field Guide to the Moths of GB & Eire ". It shows the moths as ye'll see and photograph them. Settled with their wings closed. Or, if ye That tight? Check out the Concise edition. If anything, it may be the better of the two. Better lay out, I suspect. Want to take this a step further? PM me. I have a couple of places to show ye

All you need is the time and money, parameters set by some b&st&rd to curb our interests and enthusiasms. Seem to remember that some people use cloths soaked in a red wine/sugar solution to attract some moth, leaving it in situ. then catching with a net any moth that is feeding. no tears when soaking the cloth please, I know it will go against the grain of many, but just think of the joy of maybe a humming bird hawk moth in the early Hours of a balmy night(if it ever stops raining.) talpa
