I'm up for anything!

Only consideration I have is a 10 week old Staff pup who is sticking to me like glue. Not really fair to leave him with the Mrs, as soon as she's busy he poops!

If there was a way he could ride along I'm in! He's good in the car, just goes to sleep. I'd like him to be around guns etc as I hope to mould him into a retreiver of sorts, and a squirrel flusher!

Thats very disappointing then if the club cant put on a .22 recoiling class for the .22 lad's wanting to attend. Lea Valley managed it last year.

Ive moved house now and not driving almost 3 hours to the event to shoot a calibre im not 100% familiar with at the level the comp is at.

I wanted to have time to practice with my .177 Pro Sport before the start of the new HFT season as ill be using .177 in that comp all the way through instead of .22.

I think ill give the UK springer comp a miss this year then mate and go and shoot in the final shoot of the Southern Hunters Series with Davy and the lads with my .22 and then build on my .177 shooting over the coming months.

WHAT? No .22 class? That is really bloody silly. How can you call this a constructive competition across the board?!

I'm still having my .177 HW97 tuning work to be done. Tony Wall hasn't got the new piston head yet and I need to get it run-in and into practice with it. Might yet have to go with the TX200HC. But I'm really keen to use my HW97 set-up.

bit off topic sorry! but how much does a tony wall hw97 tune cost just out of interest? i take it you are talking stage 2. and can he do the same job on a 77?

I ordered the full tuning kit from Tony, Fry. £47.50 inc. postage which I think is a remarkable deal. Tony prepares everything himself and all you have to do is install it. It's not as though you are assembling a missile, is it!

Andy does a really thorough fettling and tuning job superbly so, it'll be a killer rifle when it's been installed and set up by him.

Yes, you can add this to your HW77.

To have Tony do it himself costs about £140 or so, give or take. But it is a really superb job built from scratch and perfectly matched to the rifle. You get an incredibly accurate rifle at the end of the process. I shot with Si's .22 HW97KT when we met up with Helen and Davy for a shoot, just before Christmas and I couldn't put it down. What a fabulous rifle that is! Well worth spending the money and I can see exactly why Si sings Tony's praises.

But, my Andy-tuned HW77 is on a par with it. And that's on the original Weihrauch components and spring! No other additional parts or tuning kits involved. Honestly I couldn't wish for a sweeter HW77 than the one I have. He won't thank me for saying all this as, he doesn't want to be involved in tuning as a business or for anyone beyond his mates. But fair play to the lad. He's brilliant!

Best wishes mate.

Simon

Edited to add.

If you are really adept at spring rifle tuning yourself, I'd say this Sandwell kit is a great way to uprate your rifle for reasonable cost. Give Sandwell Field Sports a bell and have a chat!

ok thanks for that! i am keeping my eyes peeled for a 77 or 97 i am being more drawn to a 97 as they appear to have a moderator, i would like a walnut stock but am not keen on thumb holes. when one turns upi will certainly be giving tony a ring thanks again.
