NEWKID 29,103
I used to write a few songs and play in a band.. We don't do so much now, but still get in the studio occasionally for an hour or two........ When driving today I remembered a song I wrote when I was around 21, it seems quite apt with a few of the posts recently.... The song was called ..Immigration Do you hear the whispering, I can feel unrest A nation that is wakening With issues to contest No more the majority I fear our shores are being swamped And in this tiny country It's starting to get cramped But don't you call me a racist, when a realist fits me fine I was warned of blood shed on the streets On the streets that were mine On the street that were mine As we bend over backwards Trying to please those who don't care It's those of us who's thinking forwards We are told, hey that's not fair And don't you say I've no compassion I'm just free to have my say But now it seems to be the fashion In the country that lost it's way But don't you call me a racist, when a realist fits me fine I was warned of blood shed on the streets On the streets that were mine On the streets that were mine On the streets that were mine It weren't a bad tune and went down well enough on our local circuit...... Happy days Cheers Kev

NEWKID 29,103
Cheers lads, it just popped in my head earlier, it was written about 15 years ago but we probably haven't played it for 9 or 10 years....... When I read it I can hear the tune, but I'm not sure it works as a poem really.... You need out of tune guitars clanging about behind it, and a pissed up crowd lol...... NEWKID 29,103
Wrong Ian Stuart.......f***ing spellings ! Lol lol Had to google that one mate...... Funnily enough he started out in a Rolling Stones cover band called " Tumbling Dice".... Before forming Srewdriver..... ( I hope i'm on about the right bloke this time lol)... I never wrote political stuff this was a one off after a drunken discussion one night.... Normal shit lol Got a mate who's right into the punk scene, always on about " cock sparrer", goes to the punk do's around the country, with a few lads who all drink in our local.... He came around and watched us a fair bit, we weren't punk, but he said he enjoyed it........ He's my mate lol Cheers Kev
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Kev; I avoided the very title of this thread. Thought, " Oh, keep your choice of lyrics to your self! ". Then I got curious. But read " I used to be in a band and write. " I nearly gagged! Just what I'd expected! So, I read a line. Or two ..... Just kept reading. Finished it. Soberly reached for the " Like " button. Fair play, mate. But, try to perform that today? They'd kick the f**king doors in. Close the venue. Cart you and the band away as " Inciting Racial Hatred " Why not start a new band? Call yourselves " The True Prophets ". Have that as your signature tune? That'd wind the bast@rds up! Bloody Good Lyrics!

Bloody Good Lyrics! Haha... I didn't want to sound self indulgent mate I can promise you that, I didn't know what to put as the title for the thread..... So came up with that crap lol Only once did I get a bad reaction to the song, a couple left the pub when we played it, he was white and she was black.... But it wasn't meant as a racist song, it was my stab at a political song ( im no Dylan i know)I'm not racist at all but I know what you mean now, there's not much you can say.... I love the idea of the band, " the true prophets" lol..... We still play a little but it's not he same as when your 21, it used to be a drunken romp... I loved it... The kids come first now, weekend benders and waking up in the back of the van is finished.... At least until my midlife crisis then watch out........ Cheers mate Kev
