Ratching Today In The Snow Made Me Think

Recommended Posts

Out earlier with the dogs, making the most of the clear weather before the blizzard. The collie and the cur were out fetching in some ground towards me and the 2 lurchers. Something got up from a piece of cover around 50 yards in front of the free working dogs. The lurchers spotted it and then the difference between the 2 of them became apparent. The little bull x ran straight at it, down the valley to smash its way through the hedge to get on it ASAP. The thinker, (colliexgrey x salxwhip.grey with a smallest dash of bull) ran backwards, quartering away. this lead him to a gateway from which he cantered down the wall side, then a quick 40 yard dash to put the game in the bag. At which point, the little bullx appeared on the scene. The thinker had to run at least a 100 yards further to get the job done, but without the hassle of busting the thick hedge and dragging itself out of the deep ditch/bog on the other side. Both dogs got the job done but in very different styles. Anyone else seen this and whats your preference.

The pack.

I own a coursing bred dog a bull/grey and a collie x. Ive said before if i could only take one out with me round here it would be the bull/grey. Just my personal preference. Wich dog do you prefer out of interest matey ? Atb

of the two running I prefer the thinker. I have not had the bullx for long, and on a straight slip on the lamp he does a good job. The little collie cur always impresses me. Take her anywhere without question and may not catch such a full/mixed bag but I come home satisfied.

The team I have right now are coming together nicely though!

Cheers bud, he is a nice dog to have around he place and does a good job. But looks don't mean owt when it comes down to the nitty gritty. Ask me again what I think of him in two years time
