moxy 617
I have owned a superten carbine for around ten years and believe me when I say it's accounted for some fur and feather. It's not the pre charged I wanted but when I went to the shop to buy a rapid and they had just sold the last one, gutted about summed it up. Dilemma was leave with another rifle or end up at the boozer and piss up the wedge I had in my pocket. Some of you anti S10's probably say that wouldn't have been a bad idea!! Well six and a half hundred sheets parted with and a new mk2 S10 carbine in a walnut stock. I haven't ever really looked back. Lots of pre charged and springers have passed through my hands but I have always favoured the S10. The only real regret I have and I'm still sick to this day is to part with my HW98 in a moment of madness. That subject is still sore so I won't digress further! Now since day one the little carbine has always been a noisy fecker to the point where I tend to call it a gobshite. I never had it "blueprinted" lol as I trusted BSA had out it together correct in the first place but I had it back to them twice for a service and to try and shut it up a tad. Each time it was returned shinier than it was sent but just as gobby. I pestered the tech dept none stop and over the course of time I have had FOC three new silencers. A new model each time. Which I am very gracious for BUT all were crap and didn't make one iota of difference. I tried a logun and the standard AA again to no avail. I finally settled on a theoben and for a year or two has been satisfactory. Over this time few have repeatedly recommended a certain flavour and the advise always fell on ignorant ears. I wasn't prepared to be shelling out for something that wouldn't have any effect. Well the told you so's and humble pie time has arisen. What a plonker I am. I have just purchased a HW silencer and what a darling it is! The gobshite has finally shut up. What I'm kicking myself the most about is a regular shooting buddy has had a HW100 for a while and it never even crossed my mind to try his silencer. I also have a ripley silencer which is even quieter than the HW but that is staying firmly put on the rapid. So for those who maybe in the same boat and too own a gobshite then the HW silencer is a must. For those who already know and have told me countless times. Apologies for me burying my head in the sand. Oh and it really pains me to say " you were right " The barrel will now be away to be screw cut 2 Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
Nice one Mick , personally i like the S10`s and HW mods are very good . Who`s doing the screw cut mate ? You know our `mate ` will do it for you You think the HW is good , you should try a nutshot on it Quote Link to post
moxy 617
That's something I may consider. But chances are the ripley may be relegated to the s10 and the nutshot on the rapid. If the farther inlaw can't do it in time then it will be coming along with me when I have my rapid block reported. Work in progress mate. Quote Link to post

Mawders 595
Nice rifle moxy mate, I had the mk3 BBK version with walnut stock and it also had a twink silencer fitted which made the thing bloody quiet, could only hear the hammer inside the gun. Quote Link to post
Wildling 520
Moxy I agree with you 100% about what cracking PCP Rifles they are. They've never let me down once in all the years I've had them and are very accurate Rifles with a good forward balance to them which I prefer. I've 2 of the MK3 Super Tens, ones a 177 BBK and the other one is a 22 Carbine. Both of have been to see John Bowkett for a Blueprint and the barrel on the Carbine was screw cut and fitted with the HW mod. ( Which as you say takes the noise down to nothing ! ) The Stocks on the MK3 are the Dogs Dangly's ( IMOP ) with a beautiful sweeping cheek comb and a lovely fluted fore grip as well. A real Beauty and the Beast of a rifle from BSA ! Quote Link to post
